The Aquaponics Project Inc (APi) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation founded in April 2014 to address the need for sustainable agriculture methods that produce healthy food year-round. This is achieved by using aquaponics farming systems.
The mission of the Aquaponics Project is to deliver sustainable agriculture solutions that grow food 365 days per year and result in long-term, positive impact for residents of community food deserts.
Our vision is worldwide food security on an ecologically thriving earth. The right to be free from hunger and have access to healthy food is a fundamental human right. Aquaponics is a method for providing access to healthy food.
Our core values focus on:
This social enterprise venture works with organizations that are already connected to the community so that positive impact and outcomes are realized in a short timeframe. Collaborating with residents, community organizations, educational institutions, businesses, and government agencies to implement comprehensive, sustainable solutions will improve community health and wellness.
Recognizing that economic sustainability directly impacts organization and program viability, the goal is for the innovative solutions created to be revenue generating with the ability to lead communities in transformative approaches that solve intractable social issues.
